Indiana and Notre Dame will meet on Tuesday in non-conference softball action in South Bend.

The Indiana Hoosiers will travel the short distance to South Bend on Tuesday for a non-conference matchup against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Melissa Cook Stadium. The Fighting Irish come into the mid-week matchup with an overall record of 12-15 and a conference record of 2-4. The team has lost two games in a row with the most recent being a 5-3 defeat by NC State on Saturday in extra innings. Emily Tran led the Notre Dame offense, going 2-for-4 at the plate. Addison Amaral brought in two of the team’s runs with a two-run single to left field in the fifth while Jane Kronenberger was responsible for the Irish’s only other run with an RBI single. Brianne Weiss took the loss in the circle after giving up two earned runs in 3.1 innings while striking out five batters.

The Hoosiers will also look to break a two-game losing streak after dropping a pair of Big Ten games to Iowa over the weekend, bringing their overall record to 19-7 and their conference record to 0-5. The first game against the Hawkeyes resulted in a close 7-6 loss while the finale was also a one-run game at 6-5. Avery Parker went 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBI to lead the Hoosiers’ offense while Melina Wilkison, Taylor Minnick, and Brianna Copeland brought in the other three runs. Jenae Berry moved to 8-2 on the season after being credited with the loss in the circle. She got the start and threw for just 0.1 inning before coming out of the game.

The Hoosiers and Fighting Irish have met a total of 22 times in their history and the series is all tied up at 11-11. Indiana is 0-5 on the road and will look to snag that first road win on Tuesday night. Tune in to watch.
