No. 16 Missouri takes on unbeaten Liberty at the Shriners Children’s Clearwater Invitational on Saturday morning

No. 16 Missouri (5-4) is 1-2 during its stay at the Shriners Children’s Clearwater Invitational in Clearwater, Florida, and will wrap up its trip with two games on Saturday, beginning with a matchup against unbeaten Liberty (8-0) in the morning at the Eddie C. Moore Softball Complex. The Flames won both of their games on Friday while the Tigers lost their only game. Missouri played in the Super Regionals a season ago while Liberty has played in the last four NCAA tournaments but has yet to advance beyond the regional level.

Liberty opened its day on Friday with a 6-4 victory over Charlotte before beating No. 12 Alabama 7-6. The Flames scored four times in the bottom of the sixth, capping the comeback on Rachel Roupe’s RBI single, with an additional run scoring on an error. Savannah Woodard and Brooke Roberts each have a home run and seven RBI while KK Madrey is 11-for-24 with eight stolen bases. Paige Bachman is 4-0 in five appearances with a 1.00 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 23 strikeouts in 21 innings.

The Tigers scored two in the top of the first against Ohio State but the Buckeyes plated six in the fourth inning and went on to a 7-2 victory on Friday. Taylor Ebbs drove in both runs with a double. Stefania Abruscato leads the team with eight RBI, Julia Crenshaw and Madison Walker each have two home runs and Crenshaw is 12-for-27 with 12 runs scored. Cierra Harrison is 2-1 in five starts with a 6.00 ERA and 1.71 WHIP in 21 innings after being roughed up for all seven runs in three-plus innings on Friday.

Larissa Anderson is 222-119 in her seventh season at Missouri with five straight NCAA tournament bids dating back to 2019 (there was no tournament in 2020). Dot Richardson has a 392-255 mark in her 12th season coaching the Flames, with five NCAA tournament appearances.
