No. 3 Texas A&M takes a 10-game winning streak into Saturday’s potential series-clincher against No. 5 LSU

No. 3 Texas A&M (35-5) kept rolling on Friday, winning its 10th straight game to open a weekend Southeastern Conference series with No. 5 LSU (35-6). The Aggies can clinch the series on Saturday at Davis Diamond in Bryan-College Station, Texas, after drawing even with Oklahoma for second place in the SEC at 9-3. The Tigers fell to 8-5 with the loss, tied for fourth with Florida and Mississippi State. Texas A&M has played in 22 consecutive NCAA tournaments and last reached the Women’s College World Series in 2017. LSU’s streak of NCAA tourney bids is at 18 and it also played in the 2017 WCWS.

The Aggies broke a 5-5 tie with four runs in the fourth inning en route to a 12-7 victory on Friday. Mac Barbera got them started with a three-run homer in the first inning and finished 2-for-2 with four RBI while Mya Perez finished 4-for-5 with a pair of runs driven in. Allie Enright delivered the go-ahead blow in the fourth with a two-run single. Perez is slashing .467/.585/.914 with 12 home runs and 57 RBI while Kennedy Powell has stolen 15 bases without being caught.

The Tigers pushed across five runs in the top of the second but a seventh-inning rally fell short after netting two runs. Jadyn Laneaux drove in two runs in the loss while Tori Edwards, McKenzie Redoutey and Maddox McKee each had two hits. Edwards is slashing .442/.517/.892 with 14 home runs and 57 RBI to lead the offense.

Emiley Kennedy (13-3) comes in with a 2.70 ERA and 1.21 WHIP in 98.2 innings for Texas A&M while Sydney Berzon (15-3) has a 2.27 ERA and 1.14 WHIP in 101.2 innings for LSU.
