Oregon has the chance to bring home the Big Ten title outright in college softball with a win against Michigan State on Sunday in this regular season finale.

No. 3 Oregon looks for the series win against Michigan State in this Big Ten conference showdown at home on Sunday afternoon. It may be surprising that the Ducks don’t have the opportunity to sweep this series today, but this will be the rubber match. The Spartans got a huge 6-4 upset victory in the opener on Friday that ended Oregon’s five-game winning streak. Oregon quickly responded in Game 2, absolutely dominating by winning 14-0 to tie the series. The opening loss was a surprise for Oregon because it is 46-6 with a 18-4 home record and even better 18-3 conference record. Meanwhile, the Spartans are 16-28 overall with a 4-13 away record and a 6-15 conference record. This will be the final game of the regular season before the Big Ten tournament starts on May 8.

The 14-0 win on Saturday also brought home a share of the Big Ten regular season title for the Ducks. Oregon athletics has now brought home six conference titles for the 2024-25 season, as their move to Big Ten couldn’t have gone much better. The Ducks hold a one-game lead over UCLA heading into this regular season finale. Oregon will be extra motivated for a win today because that will come with an outright conference title.

Elise Sokolsky improved to 14-2 after pitching all five innings, only allowing three hits all day. Rylee McCoy was a huge factor on offense, hitting two home runs, which extends the Oregon freshman home run record to 17. Along with McCoy, Kai Luschar and Kedre Luschar all drove in three runs apiece. More importantly there wasn’t an error made in this game. In the opener, the Ducks made three errors that contributed to a six-run inning in the opener. Oregon will be the heavy favorite to bring home the Big Ten title outright in this regular season finale.
