Mississippi State will head to Lubbock, Texas, on Saturday afternoon to face off against hometown team Texas Tech in a college softball game in the Lubbock Regional on the road to the Women’s College World Series. The winner of the Lubbock Regional will take on the winner of the Tallahassee Regional in the Super Regionals. The No. 9-ranked Red Raiders took on Brown in the first round of this mini-regional tournament. They are 46-12 overall this season and finished the regular season with a 20-4 record against Big 12 teams.

After winning the Big 12 Championship against Arizona, they shut out Brown in the first game, 6-0. Chloe Riasetto won her eighth game of the season after pitching four innings. Alana Johnson and Nijaree Canady both homered in the win, with Johnson dominating the contest with four RBIs, accounting for four of the six runs in the game.

The No. 18-ranked Bulldogs finished the season 38-17 overall and 13-11 against teams in the Southeastern Conference. They lost to LSU in the SEC Tournament to end their conference run before heading to Texas. They opened up the Lubbock Regional against Washington on Friday and won that game 6-3.

Raelin Chaffin won her 22nd game of the season, pitching a complete game. She threw 7.0 innings, allowing three earned runs with nine strikeouts. The offense from Mississippi State was provided by a home run and two RBIs from Nadia Barbary. Kylee Edwards also finished the game with two RBIs to advance MSU.
