On Sunday afternoon, No. 14 Alabama has the chance to win the Tuscaloosa Regional and emerge unscathed with a win over Southeastern Louisiana. The Lions bring an overall record of 47-14 into Sunday’s game and finished conference play with a record of 17-7. Yesterday, Southeastern Louisiana was able to stay alive in tournament play with a 6-2 win over Clemson to eliminate the Tigers. Ka’Lyn Watson led the Lions offensively, going 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBI from a home run in the second. Maddie Watson also finished the game with two RBI produced from a double to center field. Ellie DuBoise took the win on the mound with 4.2 innings of work in which she struck out two of the 21 batters she faced.

The Crimson Tide has remained perfect in regional play so far with a 1-0 win over USC Upstate on Friday and a 6-3 win over the Lions on Saturday morning that stretched to the ninth inning. Kayla Beaver pitched a complete game for Alabama, striking out 10 batters and giving up five runs. Riley Valentine led the team with two RBI from a two-run shot to left center in the ninth. Kristen White followed with an RBI single to score Bailey Dowling and Kenleigh Cahalan brought home Larissa Preuitt. The Lions were able to bring in two more runs, but the Alabama defense were able to hold on to the lead and escape with the win.
If Southeastern Louisiana wins this game, the teams will play in a rubber match later this afternoon to determine the regional champion.
