Ole Miss and South Carolina will continue their SEC series on Saturday afternoon with game two in Columbia.

In a battle of two top 25 teams, the No. 15 Ole Miss Rebels will continue their road trip in Columbia as they take on the No. 6 South Carolina Gamecocks in game two of their SEC series at Beckham Field. The Gamecocks won the first game in the eighth inning after Abigail Knight was walked with bases loaded, scoring Nia McKnight. With the win, the Gamecocks improved to 29-7 and 4-4 in conference play, putting the team in 10th place in the SEC standings. Earning hits for the Gamecocks were Quincee Lilio, Karley Shelton and Ella Chancey. In the circle for South Carolina was Sam Gress who pitched 7.2 innings, allowing seven hits and throwing seven strikeouts. Jori Heard entered to get the last out of the eighth inning and improved her record to 12-2 on the season.

The Rebels come into the second game of the series with an overall record of 28-8 and conference record of 5-5. Friday’s loss marked the team’s second in a row, but the team was able to generate seven hits in the loss. Jaden Pone and Mackenzie Pickens led the team offensively, earning two hits apiece while Lair Beautae, Aliyah Binford and Persy Llamas each earned one hit. Miali Guachino pitched 7.1 innings, allowing three hits and walking 10 batters while striking out seven, but she fell to 12-7 on the season with the loss in the circle.
