Oregon and Washington meet in their first series since joining the Big Ten this weekend as conference play begins in college softball.

The college softball season is well underway, but conference play will begin this weekend all around the country. On Saturday afternoon, Oregon and Washington will kick off Big Ten play since joining the conference in 2024. The Ducks brought a three-game win streak into the weekend with an overall record of 24-2. The team’s only two losses came against Arizona State and Oregon State, both strong squads who consistently find success. The team played a pair of games against Abilene Christian ahead of conference play and outscored the Wildcats 24-5 over the two games. The finale resulted in a massive 22-4 victory after posting a 15-run first inning. Kedre Luschar led the Ducks at the plate, going 3-for-4 with five RBI. Elise Sokolsky earned the win in the circle, moving to 6-1 on the year with 3.2 innings of work in which she struck out five.

The Huskies have been on a hot streak over the last few weeks and came into the weekend’s series with a record of 20-7 so far. The team brought a 14-game win streak into the Big Ten series with the most recent win being a 5-2 victory over Boise State earlier this week. Five different players finished the game an RBI to spread the scoring around with Riley Peschek and Alexis DeBoer earning extra-base hits with a double and solo home run, respectively. Stevie Hansen remained undefeated in the circle at 6-0 after pitching for six innings and striking out six batters while Morgan Reimer came in to earn her first save of the season with one strikeout.

Oregon and Washington had met a total of 100 times prior to joining the Big Ten and the Huskies held a 66-34 lead in the series. The teams’ final Pac-12 series took place in April last year and the Ducks won the series with a 9-8 win in the second game and 6-4 win in the finale after falling behind following an 8-3 loss in the series opener.
