Paige Doerr and Liberty will take the field in Game 2 of the Eugene Super Regional against Kailee Luschar and No. 16 seed Oregon.

On Saturday afternoon, in Eugene, Oregon, Liberty will play the No. 16-seeded Oregon in Game 2 of the Eugene Super Regional at Jane Sanders Stadium in a best-of-three series. The No. 8-ranked team in the nation, the Ducks, won the first game of the series on Friday night with a 3-2 win in extra innings. Staci Chambers picked up the win in the first game, her third of the season as a reliever. She threw 2.1 scoreless innings with a strikeout. Lyndsey Grein started the team and went 2.0 scoreless innings, before E Sokolsky gave up the two earned runs in 3.2 innings.

It was an old-fashioned, gritty win for Oregon with no home runs. Kailee Luschar went 3-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and a run. Stefini Ma’ake went 1-for-4 with an RBI, and Dezianna Patmon went 1-for-4 with an RBI. The two other runs were scored by Kedre Luschar and Ayanna Shaw. With a win tonight, Oregon punches its ticket to the WCWS.

On the other hand, the Flames will need a win in this game to extend the series to a sudden-death third game. They were held to two runs in the first game, with Elena Escobar losing game No. 4 on the season. She is now 25-4. She threw all 7.1 innings, giving up just one earned run on seven hits with five walks and no strikeouts.

Liberty came away from the first game with eight hits total. Paige Doerr went 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and a run, having the best game for the team. The other RBI was scored by Alexia Carrasquillo, while the run was scored by KK Madrey. Only two players struck out in the loss as well, they just weren’t able to pull off the upset win.
