San Jose State will look to break a two-game losing streak on Wednesday night when the team hosts Pacific in college softball action.

The San Jose State Spartans will welcome the Pacific Tigers to the Spartan Softball Complex on Wednesday afternoon for a non-conference matchup. The Spartans are currently on a two-game losing streak after dropping the last two games of their Mountain West series with Fresno State, the finale resulting in an 8-5 defeat on the road. Aubrie Thomas led at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one RBI, while Reina Zermeno, Haley Reeve and Carly Cummings each brought in a run, as well. Taylor Peacock took the loss in the circle after giving up three earned runs and striking out one batter in one inning of work. The loss dropped her to 1-1 on the season.

The Tigers are currently 11-19 overall this season and have not yet begun Mountain West play. Over the weekend, the team played Portland State in the WCC/Big Sky Challenge, winning the first game before dropping the second to force a rubber match in the finale. The Tigers earned an 11-7 win to secure the series victory. Four players recorded two hits in the game and Jayleen Scott led the team with three RBIs after getting hit by a pitch in the fourth and hitting a two-run single in the sixth. Justice Alcaraz went four innings in the circle, striking out two batters and giving up three earned runs to take the win and improve to 7-4 on the season.

Pacific and San Jose State have met a total of 22 times in their history and the Tigers hold a narrow 12-10 lead in the all-time series. The last meeting between the two teams took place a month ago and resulted in a 7-5 victory for Pacific.
