Penn State and Iowa will wrap up their Big Ten series on Monday with a double header in Iowa City.

The regular season is beginning to wind down and both Iowa and Penn State will try to climb the Big Ten standings with a pair of wins on Monday as they meet at Bob Pearl Field to close out their series. The Nittany Lions come into Monday’s games with an overall record of 20-22 and a conference record of 6-8 for a spot in 12th place in the Big Ten standings. The team has lost three games in a row with the most recent being a close 2-1 defeat on Saturday in the series opener. Mady Volpe took the loss in the circle after pitching 3.1 innings and giving up just two runs. Madison Seidel brought in the team’s only run as Iowa held the Nittany Lions to just two hits.

With Saturday’s win, the Hawkeyes improved to 26-16 overall and 8-6 in Big Ten play which has the team sitting in seventh place in the standings. Jalen Adams pitched a complete game for Iowa on Saturday and struck out three batters during her time in the circle. Behind her strong pitching and impressive fielding from her teammates, the team was able to hold the Nittany Lions to just two hits. Avery Jackson brought in the team’s only earned run of the game and Jena Young was responsible for the only other hit.
