Purdue and Nebraska will wrap up their Big Ten series on Monday in Nebraska in college softball action.

The No. 20 Nebraska Cornhuskers will host the Purdue Boilermakers on Monday evening for the final game of their Big Ten series at Bowlin Stadium. The Boilermakers come into the finale with an overall record of 17-16 and a conference record of 2-7 for a spot in 13th place in the Big Ten standings. The team is on a two-game losing streak after dropping the first two games of the series to Nebraska by scores of 13-1 and 6-0. In Sunday’s shutout, the team only mustered two hits which came from the bats of Khloe Banks and Sage Scarmardo. Julia Gossett dropped to 5-5 on the season in the circle after giving up five earned runs in five innings of work while striking out seven batters from a strong Nebraska batting lineup.

With the series clinched, the Cornhuskers will now look to extend their win streak to seven games. The team comes into Monday’s contest with a spot in fourth place in the Big Ten standings with an overall record of 26-8 and a conference record of 6-1. The team’s only Big Ten loss came against Ohio State in a close 13-12 defeat in the Big Ten opening series, but the Huskers bounced back and have stayed hot ever since. Olivia Dinardo led the team offensively in Sunday’s 6-0 win, going 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBI. Samantha Bland was the only Cornhusker with an extra-base hit, smacking a double through to left field to plate Hannah Camenzind and Katelyn Caneda. Hannah Camenzind improved to 5-2 on the season with the win in the circle, striking out three batters and giving up two hits.

Purdue and Nebraska have now met a total of 29 times in their history and the Cornhuskers hold a 20-9 lead in the all-time series. Tune in on Monday to see if Nebraska can add one more win to the tally and complete the sweep.
