The two teams met on Saturday in the series-opener, where the Wolverines were able to come away with a 3-1 victory at home. Michigan broke the deadlock in the bottom of the second inning when Ellie Sieler went deep to right field, giving the Wolverines a 1-0 edge. Then, Rutgers’ Ella Harrison came up with her fifth strikeout of the game in the third leaving Michigan stranded on the corners. The Scarlett Knights proceeded to get into scoring position in the top of the sixth. Pinch hitter Riley Hwang led off with a single to left and Stephanie Kraska entered and walked to put runners on first and second. The side was retired, however, before RU could do any damage.
