ACC softball play continues on Saturday as Duke hosts Syracuse at Duke Softball Stadium.

The Syracuse Orange will take a trip to North Carolina for the weekend as the team takes on the No. 17 Duke Blue Devils in an ACC series at Duke Softball Stadium. The Orange came into the weekend with an overall record of 16-6, but are currently at the bottom of the ACC standings along with three other teams with a conference record of 0-3. The Blue Devils have gotten off to a strong start this season and came into the weekend with an overall record of 17-8 and a conference record of 2-1 which puts them in the middle of the ACC pack. The team opened conference play against Clemson last weekend, dropping the first game in a five-inning 12-4 loss before bouncing back to win the second and third games. Earlier in the week, the team took on No. 7 Tennessee, losing in a tight 1-0 game. The lone run of the game came from a home run by Taylor Pannell in the bottom of the first so the loss went to starter Dani Drogemuller who dropped to 6-3 on the season. Tennesee pitcher Karlyn Pickens threw only gave up two hits which came from Ana Gold and Amiah Burgess.

Syracuse and Duke had met a total of 13 times prior to Friday’s series opener and the Blue Devils held a commanding 11-2 lead in the all-time series. When the teams met last season, Duke pulled off the sweep, outscoring the Orange 16-0.
