No. 4 Texas A&M looks to complete a sweep of No. 16 Georgia at Turner Softball Stadium in Athens on Monday

After sweeping a Saturday doubleheader, No. 4 Texas A&M (34-5) ran its winning streak to nine games and assured itself a victory in its weekend series with No. 16 Georgia (25-13), which has lost five in a row. The series concludes on Monday evening at Turner Softball Stadium in Athens, Georgia, after the game was rescheduled due to the threat of severe weather on Sunday. The Aggies are 8-3 in Southeastern Conference play while the Bulldogs have fallen to 4-10. Texas A&M has played in 22 straight NCAA tournaments, going to a super-regional last season, and last played in the Women’s College World Series in 2017. Georgia’s string of NCAA bids is also at 22 and it was in a super-regional in 2024. The most recent of its five WCWS appearances came in 2021.

The Aggies cruised to an 8-0 and 12-5 sweep on Saturday, winning the opener by run rule in six innings. Emiley Kennedy scattered four hits and fanned seven in the first game while Mya Perez and KK Dement each homered. In the nightcap, Texas A&M broke open a tie game with six runs in the top of the fifth, boosted by a three-run home run from Allie Enright. Perez slashes .450/.577/.890 with team-highs of 12 home runs and 55 RBI while Kennedy Powell hasn’t been thrown out in 15 stolen-base attempts. Kennedy is 12-3 in the circle with a 2.52 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in 91.2 innings.

Tyler Ellison powers the Georgia attack with a .338/.459/.575 slash line and has six homers and 20 RBI despite starting only 25 games. Sarah Gordon leads the team with eight home runs and 37 RBI and Dallis Goodnight has stolen 19 bases in 21 tries. Randi Roelling has an 8-6 mark for the Bulldogs with a 3.09 ERA and 1.41 WHIP in 95 innings of work.

Tricia Ford is in her third season coaching at Texas A&M and is 114-41. She recently won her 500th career game after stops at Saint Mary’s, Fresno State and Arizona State. Tony Baldwin has been at Georgia since 2022 with a record of 153-65.
