Oklahoma goes for the series win against their biggest rivals in Game 2 against Texas on Saturday.

This is going to be a rekindling of a great historic rivalry when Oklahoma hosts Texas on Saturday afternoon. The Sooners and Longhorns will now face off as SEC rivals but just that bad blood remains the same. This is the second game of this three-game series against these great teams. The No. 3 Sooners are trying for their fifth win in a row after beating the No. 2 Longhorns on Friday night in a very close 7-6 hard-fought battle. It is going to be difficult for Texas to tie this series as Oklahoma is 19-2 at home. But if any team is up for the challenge it is the Longhorns with the team 42-7 overall and they are 13-3 on the road. That is compared to the Sooners sitting at 40-5 overall.

In Game 1, the Sooners got off to a tremendous start but got too complacent and nearly let the win slip through their fingers. Oklahoma got out to a 6-0 after a five-run third inning highlighted by a grand slam from junior Ailana Agbayani. Sam Landry pitched a complete game and got out of the seventh inning with two runners on to earn her 16th win of the season. The Longhorns kept chipping back scoring five runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

Oklahoma needed to respond and Agbayani came through again. She drove in Nelly McEnroe-Marinas after the later doubled to score the eventual game-winning run. Agbayani was 3-for-3 and drove in three runs earning the MVP of the game. The one-run loss ended Texas’ bid to win three games in a row. There is only one more series after this one until the SEC tournament starts in Athens, GA where it wouldn’t be a surprise to see these two rivals face off again.
