San Diego State goes for its fifth straight win on Friday when it takes on Virginia Tech in the NCAA Softball Regionals.
San Diego State and Virginia Tech hit the field on Friday night in the Los Angeles Regional. The Aztecs come into the regional on a four-game winning streak and a Mountain West Tournament Championship. They finished the regular season 31-18 overall and 15-7 in the Mountain West. They then swept through the conference tournament beating Boise State, Nevada and Boise State again to win the title. They gave up just five combined runs in those three games on their way to a championship and automatic bid to the regionals. Friday night they will look to stay hot against a Hokies team that is ranked in the top 20.

The Hokies come into Friday 39-12-1 on the season and they finished the year 18-6 in the ACC.
The conference tournament did not go well, though, as they were upset by Georgia Tech in the first game by a score of 6-2.
They had won 13 of their previous 15 games, but managed only three hits against the Yellow Jackets in the loss.
Friday they will look to get back on track and get a win in the first round of the regional. The winner of the game will get the winner of host UCLA and Grand Canyon.
