Oklahoma looks to stay alive in the Women’s College World Series with a win against Texas Tech on Monday in college softball action.

Only four teams remain in the Women’s College World Series and on Monday night, the Oklahoma Sooners will look to extend their time in Oklahoma City with a win against the Texas Tech Red Raiders. The Sooners fell into the elimination bracket after dropping a second-round game to Texas in a 4-2 loss, but the team rallied against Oregon on Sunday night, winning 4-1, to advance to the semifinals. The Ducks scored first with a run in the top of the second, but Isabela Emerling answered with a solo shot to left field. In the third, Cydney Sanders followed suit with a two-run shot to left field to put the Sooners ahead 3-1. Sanders struck again in the fifth, hitting a homer down the left field line to conclude the scoring on both sides. Sam Landry earned the win with 4.1 innings of work in the circle, in which she struck out six batters.

The Red Raiders opened WCWS play against the Ole Miss Rebels on Monday, winning 1-0 to advance in the winner’s bracket. Game two brought on a strong UCLA Bruins squad, but Texas Tech took care of business to stay undefeated with a 3-1 victory. Nijaree Canady dominated in the circle yet again, striking out seven Bruins and only giving up four hits and one earned run during her seven-inning outing. Hailey Toney and Raegan Jennings each finished the game with one hit and one RBI, Toney’s being a solo shot to right center. The first run was unearned as Makayla Garcia stole home to open the scoring in the fifth inning.

Of the four remaining teams, only one has won a national title. The Sooners have eight trophies to their name and the Red Raiders will try to make sure they don’t add a ninth with a win a win on Monday night.
