On Saturday afternoon, Auburn will host No. 24 Kentucky for the first game of the teams’ three-game SEC series at Jane B. Moore Field. The Tigers come into the series with an overall record of 23-13-1 and a conference record of 5-10 for a spot in 11th place in the SEC standings. Auburn’s most recent series was played against No. 6 LSU and the team secured a series win with victories in the first and third games. The last game resulted in a 3-1 win which was credited to Shelby Lowe after she pitched a complete game and struck out five batters, giving up only three hits. LSU took a first-inning lead from a single, scoring its lone run of the game. In the top of the fourth, Annabelle Widra hit a two-run single to bring in two runs. Skylar Elkins stole home to score the third and final run of the game.

The Wildcats are currently 27-15 overall and also share a conference record of 5-10 for a spot in 10th place in the SEC standings. The team’s latest game was played on Wednesday against Western Kentucky and the team earned a 12-3 victory in five innings. In the win, WKU was able to gain a 3-0 edge by the end of the second inning, but in the top of the third, Kentucky’s Taylor Ebbs singled, scoring two runs. Grace Lorsung doubled shortly after, scoring the third run of the inning. In the fourth inning, Ebbs homered to bring in three runs. Lorsung then homered to score two runs as the two traded scoring efforts. In the fifth inning, Rylea Smith hit a sacrifice fly which allowed a runner to score on a throwing error while Ebbs hit a pop up that allowed runners to score by means of another throwing error. Vanessa Nesby hit a single, scoring the final run of the game.
Starting for the Wildcats was Jaden Vickers who went 0.1 innings allowing one hit and two runs while Stephanie Schoonover finished the game with 4.2 innings or work in which she struck out nine.
