The stage is set for the Big Ten Tournament Championship and on Saturday afternoon, eighth-seeded Indiana will take on second-seeded Michigan as the teams hope for an automatic big to the NCAA tournament with a win. The Hoosiers made it through to the championship game after beating fourth-seeded Nebraska 9-5 in the semifinals. The team also eliminated top-seeded Northwestern with a narrow 4-3 victory to open tournament play. Friday’s win was powered by Brianna Copeland who finished the game with four RBI from a single in the fifth and a three-run homer in the eighth. Sophie Kleiman earned the win in the circle with seven innings of work in which she struck out four batters.

The Wolverines opened tournament play with a game against tenth-seeded Maryland in which they made quick work of with a 10-0 victory in five innings. The team moved on to play 11th-seeded Wisconsin in the semifinals in which they won 6-4. Maddie Erickson and Keke Tholl each homered in the game to combine for five RBI. Tholl also hit an RBI double to finish the game with four RBI. Lauren Derkowski move to 18-8 on the season in the circle, pitching a complete game and striking out an impressive 11 batters.
When these two teams met during the regular season, Michigan swept Indiana, outscoring the Hoosiers 32-8.
