On Thursday night, San Diego State will travel to Las Vegas to begin its final Mountain West series of the season against UNLV before postseason play begins next week. The Rebels are currently in fourth place in the Mountain West standings with a conference record of 12-7 and an overall record of 29-16. The team picked up a series win against San Jose State last weekend with a 5-2 victory in the rubber match on Sunday. Skyler Shaw and Alyssa Trejo each finished the game with two hits to lead at the plate while Kelsie Kelso finished the game with a team-high two RBI with two fly outs. Ellie Zellien earned the win in the circle after five innings of work in which she only gave up three hits.

The Aztecs are at the top of the Mountain West leaderboard with a record of 14-5 against conference opponents and 27-16 overall. Last weekend, San Diego State hosts Nevada and lost the first two games of the series before picking up a 4-2 win in the finale to avoid the sweep. Allie Light got the start in the circle and pitched two innings before Dee Dee Hernandez came in for the final five innings and earned the win, striking out two batters. Lala Macario made a bold move, stealing home plate to open the Aztecs’ scoring in the third. Alyssa Garcia brought in the second run with a groundout and the third was plated on the same play with a throwing error by Nevada. Makena Brocki plated the final run with a double in the fifth to score Katie Goldberg.
San Diego State won the last two games against UNLV to bring the record to 68-48 in the Aztecs’ favor.
