No. 7 Loyola Chicago hosts McKendree in the MIVA opener for both schools at Gentile Arena in Chicago. Watch free on Fubo.

Loyola Chicago (8-0) held onto its No. 7 ranking in this week’s American Volleyball Coaches Association poll and on Thursday night, the Ramblers open their Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association schedule at Gentile Arena in Chicago when they host McKendree (3-4). Loyola Chicago won back-to-back national championships in 2014 and 2015 and shared the MIVA title with Ball State and Ohio State in 2023. The MIVA is one of eight conferences that compete in the National Collegiate level of NCAA men’s volleyball, along with the Big West Conference, Conference Carolinas, East Coast Conference, Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association, Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, Northeast Conference and Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

The Ramblers outlasted then No. 15 UC San Diego on Saturday for a 3-2 (23-25, 25-18, 22-25, 25-22, 15-11) road victory. Parker Van Buren led the attack with 17 kills and also recorded two blocks, with Daniel Fabikovic adding 14 kills. JJ Sowa made eight digs and Ryan McElligott logged 48 assists.

McKendree last played on Friday, sweeping visiting Maryville (Missouri) 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-11). Sam Hoskin had 11 kills, with Nikos Zydakis adding 10. Nate Flayter made 11 digs to go with two service aces and 32 assists.

Van Buren leads Loyola with 114 kills and 22 aces and Favikovic is next with 103 and 12, respectively. McElligott has 227 assists, averaging 10.32 a set, Nicodemus Meyer has eight blocks and Sowa has a team-high 49 digs. Kevin Schuele’s 72 kills leads the Bearcats, while Hoskin has 54. Flayter leads the club with 235 assists (9.79 per set) and 10 aces while Yadiel Diaz has 53 digs.
