For the first time this season two of the best teams in college volleyball clash with third-ranked UCLA (19-4) hosting 10th ranked USC (19-5). These teams have one of the largest and longest rivalries in college volleyball that runs through the regular season all the way to the National Championship match. Heading into this match the Bruins are riding high with three straight wins. The Bruins have won back-to-back National Championships climbing to the top of college volleyball after a 15 year drought. On the other side of the net the Trojans are looking to get back on track after losing three straight matches and dropping in the rankings.

This two match series between the Trojans and the Bruins closes out the regular season. Once they wrap up the regular season it becomes tournament season with the MPSF Tournament followed by the NCAA Tournament to crown champions in college volleyball.
During the Bruins current three match winning streak they have one win over 13th ranked Grand Canyon University and seventh ranked BYU. In those three matches the Bruins needed five sets to pick-up two wins and four sets in the other. The two-time defending champions are being tested as the regular season winds to a close.
For the Trojans the three match losing streak came at the hands of eighth ranked Pepperdine and Stanford. Two of those losses came in four sets with the other seeing the Trojans getting out to an early one set lead and a 2-1 lead before seeing the match slip through their hands.
