The ACC Tournament in college wrestling is a potential showcase for eighth-ranked Virginia Tech. Heading into the tournament the Hokies have four of the top-seeded wrestlers and two of the second-seeded wrestlers. Caleb Henson (149 lbs.) is the number one overall wrestler in the country in his weight class. He will potentially have his hands full on the mat with North Carolina’s second-seeded Lachlan McNeil who is also fifth-ranked in the country. Those two could be on a path to face each other not only here in the ACC Tournament but also in the NCAA Tournament to decide who is the best wrestler in the country in their weight class.

The Hokies also feature Eddie Ventresca (125 lbs.), Sam Latona (141 lbs.) and Rafael Hipolito (157 lbs.) as top-seeds entering the ACC Tournament. They also have Connor McGonagle (133 lbs.) and Jimmy Mullen (285 lbs.) heading into the tournament as second-seeds.

Other top-seeds include North Carolina’s Ethan Oakley (133 lbs.), Stanford’s Hunter Garvin 165 lbs.), the Tar Heels Joshua Ogunsanya (174 lbs.), as well as Reece Heller (184 lbs.) and Mac Stout (197 lbs.) from Pittsburgh.

All of the top-seeds will try to avoid being upset and make runs to the championship matches of the ACC Tournament in college wrestling. Every year there are shocking upsets and moments of greatness from the individual wrestlers in tournament settings like this. The Hokies feature the most talented roster in the conference, but anything can happen.
