The Columbus Crew and LAFC will square-off Tuesday night in leg two of the Concacaf Champions Cup.

The round of 16 continues in Concacaf Champions Cup play on Tuesday night as the Columbus Crew and LAFC meet for the second time at Lower.com Field in Columbus. LAFC currently leads after winning the first leg 3-0 last week. Denis Bouanga netted his first goal of the year in the first half after stripping a Columbus defender, beating the goalie and slotting the ball into the net. Bouanga also scored his second goal of the season in the second half after receiving service from Jeremy Ebobisse and catching the crossbar with a shot that curled in. Nathan Ordaz added a late goal after coming off the bench to put the game out of reach for Columbus as he connected with a cleared corner kick to volley it into the back of the net.

Columbus’ most recent MLS game was played against Houston on Saturday and resulted in a 0-0 draw to improve to 2-0-1 so far. The team is now in fifth place in the league standings with seven points while LAFC is in ninth place with six points collected from a record of 2-1-0. Los Angeles played the Seattle Sounders over the weekend and dropped its first league game in a 5-2 defeat. Ordaz scored the team’s first goal in the 37th minute to make it a tie game going into halftime, but the Sounders regained the lead 20 minutes later. Two more goals were scored by Seattle before David Martínez Morales cut that lead in half, but that’s the closest LAFC would come as the scoring stopped there.

With two very talented squads meeting on Tuesday, the game could go in either team’s favor, however, Columbus needs to make up a three-goal deficit in the aggregate scoring to advance in Champions Cup play.
