On Wednesday night, the Amazon Warriors host Barbados at Providence Stadium in Guyana, with the winner moving into second place, two points behind the Saint Lucia Kings, who have just one match remaining. The Royals’ final two matches of the preliminary stage will be on the road — Wednesday at Guyana and Friday at the Trinbago Knight Riders. Guyana closes with three home matches. They host the Kings on Saturday and Trinbago on Sunday in the regular season finale.

The Amazon Warriors come off a 27-run victory over the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons at home on Saturday, 135 and 7 to 108 and 10. Moeen Ali paced the batters with 42 runs off 33 balls and Azam Khan added 29 off 24. Dwaine Pretorius took three wickets in just 2.5 overs with a 3.18 economy rate while Ali also took three with a sterling 2.25 economy rate in four overs.
The Royals come off back-to-back losses to Saint Lucia on Saturday and Sunday, dropping Sunday’s match by 13 runs, 162 and 3 to 149 and 8. Kedeem Alleyne netted 47 runs off 25 balls while Quinton de Kock was held in check with 22 off 13. Maheesh Theekshana, Keshav Maharaj and Nyeem Young took a wicket apiece in the loss.
de Kock leads the CPL with 391 runs and has one of the two centuries posted this season. Theekshana and Obed McCoy have taken nine wickets each for Barbados and Theekshana’s 5.77 economy rate tops the team. Shimron Hetmyer’s 229 runs lead Guyana, while Motie has taken 11 wickets and Ali’s 3.62 economy rate leads the league.
