David Warner posted 93 runs on 57 balls in the first inning on Sunday, setting the tone for Dubai’s 26-run trouncing of the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders to clinch a playoff spot, 217/4-191/5. The Knight Riders won the toss and opted to field and the Capitals just kept scoring runs, with Gulbadin Naib adding 47 runs on 25 balls and Shai Hope netting 36 on 24. Dushmantha Chameera bowled 2-25, as Dubai held off the chase attempt.

The Desert Vipers last played on Wednesday, opting to field before chasing down the Gulf Giants for a five-wicket win, 130/5-129/8. Max Holden powered the attack with 70 runs on 54 balls while Wanindu Hasaranga was a brilliant 3-10 and Sam Curran bowled a 3-28 to curtail the Giants.

The Capitals won the first meeting between the clubs on Jan. 20, posting a six-wicket victory, 140/4-139/10. For Dubai, Hope’s 415 runs are second in the league while Naib had 259. Chameera leads the team with 11 wickets taken in just seven matches. Alex Hales tops the Vipers with 268 runs and Curran has 239. Hasaranga and Mohammad Amir each have 11 wickets for the Desert club.
