Australia can clinch the series outright with a win on Thursday in Canberra against England.

The Women’s Ashes in 2025 has been a one-sided affair thus far, with Australia retaining the trophy by clinching no worse than a tie in this year’s series with a win on Monday in the opening T20I match. The Aussies can clinch the title outright with a win in the second T20I to be played in Canberra on Thursday. Australia claimed the Ashes in 2015 by defeating England 10-6 in the series and has held the urn since, with draws in 2017-18 and 2023 and wins in 2019 and 2022.

Australia won on Monday by 57 runs after Beth Mooney posted 75 on 51 balls and spin bowlers Georgia Wareham and Alana King bowled out England for 141 when it was chasing 199 in its second innings. Wareham bowled 3-25 and King 2-14. The Aussies were without captain Alyssa Healy, still dealing with a foot injury sustained at the World Cup, and Ash Gardner, out with a strained calf.

Sophia Dunkley scored 59 on 30 balls for England, which will need to win the remaining T20s and the Test match to forge a draw in the series. Lauren Bell and Sophie Ecclestone each took two wickets for the English, with Ecclestone allowing only 26 runs. Sarah Glenn was run out for a diamond duck during the fateful second innings, dismissed without facing a ball.

The perpetual trophy series dates to 1934-35, with Australia winning 10 times and England six with nine draws.
