Australia gets its final tuneup before the semifinals as it closes the Super Six phase against Sri Lanka on Wednesday.

Australia (3-0-0) will be playing in the knockout stage of the 2025 ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Malaysia and closes out the Super Six group stage on Wednesday against Sri Lanka (1-1-1) in its final tuneup. The match is set for the YSD-UKM Cricket Oval in Bangi. Australia was a semifinalist at the initial U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa in 2023, placing fourth, while Sri Lanka was eliminated in the Super Six stage and finished 10th.

Australia last played on Friday, chasing down West Indies for a seven-wicket victory, 57/3-53, in Bangi. Eleanor Larosa was the player of the match, bowling to a 2-6 in three overs to help shut down West Indies. Captain Lucy Hamilton scored 28 runs on 29 balls, with Kate Pelle and Caoimhe Bray each posting 11. Hamilton leads the team with 61 runs in the tournament, with Pella next at 59. Bray has bowled to a 7-36 and Larosa a 7-42 to lead the squad.

Sri Lanka’s scheduled match with Scotland in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday was abandoned before the coin toss because of rain, giving each team a point. Dahami Sanethma has 88 runs in three matches and Sanjana Kavindi has posted 73. Chamudi Praboda has taken seven wickets in 11 overs at a 7-44 pace.

While Australia is joined by England and defending champion India in the semifinals once again, South Africa broke through this year with New Zealand not advancing as it did in 2023.
