The Lions went 3-13-1 last season, the team’s second three-win campaign in the last three seasons. But it was the beginning of a new era in Detroit, as quarterback Matthew Stafford was gone and had been replaced by Jared Goff. The team has some pieces, but 2021 was proof that this team was a long way off from contending.
So, what will the Lions do at No. 2 overall? This appears to be a weak quarterback draft, so don’t expect the Lions to take one early, though the team could use a mid-round pick on someone who could theoretically push Goff.
Michigan edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson will likely be on the board for the Lions and would bolster a defense that allowed 519 points last season. The team could also look for offensive line help with either Ikem Ekwonu or Evan Neal. At least one of those two players will still be on the board when Detroit picks.
