Aaron Hernandez lived a life of pride, controversy and skill that ended tragically portrayed in this docuseries by FX on Tuesday.

On Tuesday night, FX will premier its new limited series called American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez. This documentary-style series will follow the on and off-field events of famous football star Aaron Hernandez. It starts with his life growing up in Bristol, Connecticut to his time dominated at the college level of football with the University of Florida in the days of Tim Tebow. He was drafted in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots and started his NFL career alongside Rob Gronkowski.

In his best season, in 2011, Hernandez started 12 games, catching 79 passes for 910 yards and seven touchdowns. However, his career quickly declined after he was arrested and charged with murder, ending his NFL career after the 2012 season. This limited series will explore the difficulties that Hernandez dealt with, along with the mental illness that led to his suicide in a jail cell.

This series is built off of the podcast Gladiator: Aaron Hernandez and Football Inc. from The Boston Globe. This show is executive produced by Ryan Murphy, Stuart Zicherman, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Alexis Martin Woodall, Eric Kovtun, Scott Robertson, and Carl Franklin.

Josh Rivera will play Hernandez in the production, alongside Jaylen Barron as Shayanna Jenkins. Lindsay Mendez will play Tanya Singleton, Ean Castellanos will portray D.J. Hernandez, and Tammy Blanchard will play Terri Hernandez. This will be a documentary that you will not want to miss, and it premieres tonight on FX.
