One of primetime’s longest-running shows will return Thursday night with the winter premiere of Grey’s Anatomy on ABC.

On Thursday night, Grey’s Anatomy fans will be able to rejoice as the medical drama returns for the second half of its 21st season, now in the 10 p.m. ET time slot. The medical series focuses on a group of young doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital who began their careers at the facility as interns. One of the young doctors and the show’s namesake, Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), is the daughter of a famous surgeon. Grey struggles to maintain relationships with her colleagues, particularly the hospital’s one-time chief of surgery, Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.), due to a pre-existing relationship between them. Over the years, it was revealed that Webber and Meredith’s mother had a personal relationship when she was young and Meredith has had to manage the feelings she has toward Richard breaking up her family and her journey to become a renowned doctor without her mother’s reputation overshadowing her.

Over the years, Grey’s Anatomy has seen the comings and goings of the original cast, but Meredith, Richard and Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) have been mainstays. Early this season, the show saw the return of an early-on cast member, as Dr. Sydney Heron (Kali Rocha) came back to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.

The winter premiere titled “Hit the Floor” will deal with the aftermath of the convenience store shooting, as it brings complete chaos to Grey Sloan’s emergency department. While Dr. Ben Warren (Jason George) thought he was ready with his emergency preparedness plan, it will be put to the test. Dr. Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) will deal with romantic tensions and Dr. Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone) and Dr. Winston Ndugu (Anthony Hill) come up with a surgical plan for their puzzling pediatric patient.
