When she appeared in front of him, her request was for a temple to be built on the spot she appeared, but the bishop in Mexico City needed a sign before he approved construction. On the inside of Juan Diego’s cloak, an image of the Blessed Mother was imprinted. It has been 483 years since that moment and his cloak is still in near perfect condition and is displayed in the Basilica in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
