The summer break from primetime television will begin on Wednesday night for Chicago Wednesdays as the season 10 finale of Chicago Med airs at 8 p.m. ET. The staff at one of the most renowned hospitals in Chicago must put their personal lives aside at their high-risk, high-reward jobs in the emergency department. The Gaffney Chicago Medical Center’s elite team of dedicated doctors, nurses and staff face challenges each day as they do what it takes to treat their patients, sometimes in surprisingly inventive ways. The staff at the hospital must also find a way to navigate the interpersonal relationships in their lives, which are sometimes muddied by the work, life balance that overlaps on a daily basis.

No stranger to successful NBC dramas, producer Dick Wolf continues to deliver in the emergency department each and every season. With crossover episodes with Chicago Fire and Chicago PD, the Chicago family is tight knit and always has each other’s backs.

While some of the fan-favorites from the past have moved on from the show, series regulars Maggie Lockwood (Marlyne Barrett), Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Markerson), Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt) and Dr. Hannah Asher (Jessy Schram) continued their roles this season and brought some complex storylines, as well as romance, to new episodes each week.

In Wednesday night’s finale titled “Don’t You Cry,” Goodwin is tasked with enforcing difficult cuts to the staff personnel right after solidifying a new deal with the hospital’s nursing union. Dr. Charles’ daughter will return, as well, but not in a good way, as she is hospitalized following a car accident. A transplant patient will also work with the hospital staff to make a life-changing decision.
