Jesse L. Martin stars as Alec Mercer in the latest episode of The Irrational on NBC.

The Irrational continues season two with the eighth episode of the hit crime thriller. In this series Jesse L. Martin stars as behavioral science professor Alec Mercer who utilizes his unique skill-set in reading people and situations through psychology, body language and emotion to help solve high-stakes cases. Professor Mercer is not alone in solving these high-stakes crimes as he is joined by his team, sister and ex-wife who all bring their skillset to the table to make this team uniquely successful. Maahra Hill co-stars as Special Agent Marisa Clark, an FBI Agent and Mercer’s ex-wife as well as Travina Springer as Kylie Mercer, his younger sister and an FBI Cyber analyst.

In this episode, “Stan by Me,” while investigating the disappearance of a famous tennis player in the forest, Mercer falls ill, leaving the investigation to his team to race the ticking clock to save her.

Marisa teams with Rose, played by Karen David to help fill in for Mercer while he battles a medical emergency to help find a famous tennis player in this episode. The team is used to coming together around Mercer to solve crimes, but rarely do they have to work a case without their leader.

This season Mercer and his team have entered the world of K-Pop, hunted a serial killer in the suburbs, murders on a campus, at a hockey game and had to rescue one of their own after they were kidnapped. Every week there is a new mystery and a new crime to be solved on The Irrational.
