Season seven of The Rookie will come to a close on Tuesday night with the finale airing at 10 p.m. ET on ABC. Inspired by a true story, John Nolan is the oldest rookie in the LAPD.  At an age when most are at the peak of their career, Nolan cast aside his comfortable, small-town life and moved to L.A. to pursue his dream of being a cop.  Now, surrounded by rookies 20 years his junior, Nolan must navigate the dangerous, humorous, and unpredictable world of a ‘young’ cop, determined to make his second shot at life count. Now seven seasons in, Nolan is a training officer and the FOP representative for LAPD after years on the job which has molded him into one of the department’s finest, as well as most accident-prone officers.

Tuesday night’s finale titled “The Good, the Bad and the Oscar” finds Officer Nolan and Detective Harper working together to catch Oscar, a criminal the team has had multiple run-ins with over the last several seasons. With Officer Chen passing the Sergeant’s exam, she and Officer Bradford will have to figure out how to navigate their newly revived relationship around her new schedule as she is now serving as the night shift sergeant. Miles will also be highlighted in the episode as his first date following the end of a long term relationship takes an unexpected turn.
