When Calls the Heart is already the longest-running series in Hallmark Channel history. If you are new to the series, the original premise of the show revolves around a school teacher named Elizabeth Thatcher who has been immersed in high society all of her life. Her life takes a huge shift when her first class assignment comes in a small mining town in Coal Valley. There are many people that support Thatcher get accustomed to her new life on the frontier but there are some are more suspicious of her background. The program can contribute some of its staying power to the popular Canadian West series by Janette Oak as the show is based on her pioneer novels.

But another big reason is this strong cast who consistently brings these stories to life. Erin Krakow plays Thatcher and in the first episode of this season she will get a surprise right before Little Jack’s first day of school. This is all while Nathan (Kevin McGarry) trains a new Mountie cadet. If you are still catching up look away, but at the end of last season Elizabeth revealed that she was in love with Nathan. Thankfully for the couple that love was reciprocated by Nathan.

Now we should be in for a great treat to see this relationship blossom. This show still has plenty to draw from the well and you’re not going to want to miss a moment of this new season.
