Disney debuts the winter premiere of the first season of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place on Friday night at 8 p.m. ET. The series follows an adult Justin Russo, living a normal life with his wife and two sons in Staten Island until his sister Alex asks for help with a young wizard-in-training named Billie. He revives his magical skills in order to mentor the young girl while balancing living a normal life and safeguarding the future of the Wizard World. It serves as a spin-off and sequel to Wizards of Waverly Place. It premiered on October 29, 2024, on Disney Channel. The series stars Janice LeAnn Brown, Alkaio Thiele, Max Matenko, Taylor Cora, Mimi Gianopulos, and David Henrie. Henrie, Selena Gomez, Jed Elinoff, Scott Thomas, and Andy Fickman executive produce the series alongside Gary Marsh and Jonas Agin.

At the end of the first part of the season when Billie struggles with a spell, Roman says he could do it if he was a wizard: to prove him wrong, Billie uses a Power Glass to transfer her powers to Roman.

In the new episode on Friday when Billie’s neighbour, Bella Bianchi, sees her using magic, Billie and Milo try to convince her it is fake… until their efforts result in Bella getting stuck in the lair.

“Selena and I had the closest relationship and it stayed intact after the show ended. Selena became good friends with my wife, and we’d hang out on a regular basis, drinking wine, talking about what the show meant to us and where our characters might be,” shares Henrie. “I started having kids and as time passed, it got to a point where Selena and I were both like, ‘We should just have this same conversation—without wine—in front of Disney and see how it goes.’”
