The first semifinal in the women’s Division II NCAA tournament will take place between Texas Woman’s and Ferris State Wednesday night.
The Division II NCAA Women’s Basketball tournament is wrapping up and on Wednesday night, third-seeded Ferris State will take on second-seeded Texas Woman’s in the hopes of securing the first spot in the championship game. The Bulldogs bring a four-game win streak into Wednesday’s semifinal to bring their overall record to 26-5. The team made it into the semifinal round after beating Tampa 60-53 in the Elite Eight. Chloe Idoni finished the game with a team-high 27 points for the Bulldogs while Kadyn Blanchard pulled down a team-leading 11 rebounds, narrowly missing a double-double as she scored nine points, as well. Ferris State finished the game shooting 37.9 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from the three-point line.

The Pioneers are currently 33-4 overall and are on an eight-game win streak with the most recent being a 76-44 win over seventh-seeded Daemen on Monday. Scout Huffman led all scorers with 21 points, but Ashley Ingram and Leila Patel finished in double digits, as well, with 16 points apiece. Huffman and Ingram each pulled down nine rebounds to lead on the boards, just missing out on double-doubles in the quarterfinal win. The Pioneers finished the game shooting 41.7 percent from the field and 45.5 percent from beyond the arc while finishing with a perfect 6-for-6 performance at the foul line.
Wednesday night’s game will be the first meeting between Ferris State and Texas Woman’s.
