Everyone has long heard of the showdown between the ACC and the SEC conferences that happens every year. Now, the Big East and Big 12 will go at it in a similar fashion of events with teams from the two conferences taking each other on to win the coveted rights over the other conference. The Big 12 has six ranked teams in the conference including three in the top 10. The Big East has four ranked teams including two in the top five. This will be a showdown that you do not want to miss and here are the top three games that will be played between conferences over the next week.

No. 6 Houston (Big 12) at Xavier (Big East)

Houston comes into this game as the No. 6 team in the country and a flawless, unblemished record. At 7-0, you could also say that they are largely untested which is why they have only moved from No. 7 to start the season to No. 6 now despite winning seven straight games. They did just come off winning the Shriners Children’s Charleston Classic after winning three games in three days against Towson, Utah, and Dayton. However, their closest win was by 10 points. Xavier, though just 4-3, could be a kryptonite to this Houston team. Their first two losses came against No. 1 Purdue and Washington before their terrible loss to Oakland last week. No. 16 Texas (Big 12) at No. 3 Marquette (Big East)

The last game of the Big East-Big 12 Battle will take place a week from today featuring another top battle between two top-25 ranked teams. Texas dropped to No. 16 after being beaten by No. 4 UConn in the Saatva Empire Classic tournament last weekend by 10 points. They previously beat Louisville in that same tournament. Marquette rose to the No. 3 team in the country after beating former No. 23 Illinois and UCLA before heading into the Allstate Maui Invitational, one of the hardest tournaments in the early season. It was there that they knocked off the No. 1 ranked Kansas by almost 20 points in a clinic. However, they lost the back end of the two-day against No. 2, now No. 1 Purdue in the championship game.

No. 4 UConn (Big East) at No. 5 Kansas (Big 12)

This is arguably the biggest game of either the Big East-Big 12 Battle or the ACC/SEC Challenge. It is not often that you get the No. 4 and No. 5 teams together. Kansas was the No. 1 team in the country before dropping a game to the now, No. 3 ranked Marquette. They did bounce back beating No. 10 Tennessee which stopped their free fall. The Huskies got their first top-25 win against Texas in the championship game of the Saatva Empire Classic last weekend as well. The matchup between Hunter Dickinson for Kansas and Donovan Clingan for UConn will be one to watch closely. Clingan is averaging 15.0 points and 6.0 rebounds while Dickinson is averaging 21.2 points and 12.7 rebounds per game.
