The season is rapidly coming to a close as we are just three short weeks away from finding out who will be playing in the College Football Playoff.
It may only be three weeks, but a lot is going to happen. We have our annual rivalry games next week and then some huge conference championship games the following week.
Before we get into the madness let’s take a look at our CFP projections.

Top Four
Georgia Bulldogs
The Bulldogs picked up another huge win last weekend as they whipped Ole Miss 52-17. It was a statement victory and helped them jump to No. 1 in the latest CFP rankings. The Bulldogs now must go to Tennessee for another tough game. They have already clinched a spot in the SEC Championship game but they want to stay undefeated and at the top of the rankings.
Michigan Wolverines
The Wolverines passed their first real test of the year on Saturday when they went to Penn State and beat the Nittany Lions 24-15. The Wolverines did it without their head coach and without throwing a pass in the second half. Jim Harbaugh is going to miss the rest of the regular season but the Wolverines have already won four games without him. They have a game with Maryland before their huge matchup with Ohio State in a week.
Washington Huskies
The Huskies passed another major hurdle on Saturday when they slipped by Utah 35-28. The win kept them undefeated, but they are still outside the top four in the CFP. We think they are in the top four right now but they will have to prove it again on Saturday as they travel to take on a tough Oregon State team.
Florida State
The Seminoles are at No. 4 in the current CFP rankings. We give them the nod right now because we think Ohio State will lose to Michigan. They don’t have any wiggle room, though, and need to win out and beat (probably) Louisville in the ACC championship game if they want to make it in.

In the Mix
Oregon Ducks
The Ducks got a win over USC last weekend and are looking like they have a real shot to make the playoffs if they win out and beat Washington in the Pac-12 championship game. They get Arizona State on Saturday before a tough game with Oregon State next Saturday.
Alabama Crimson Tide
Win out and the Crimson Tide are probably in. The problem is they have to beat Georgia in the SEC championship game. It isn’t going to be easy, but the path is pretty straightforward for them.
Ohio State Buckeyes
The Buckeyes are the same as the Crimson Tide: just win. If they beat the Wolverines next weekend and then win the Big Ten championship they will be in.
Texas Longhorns
The Longhorns should be in good shape, but who knows what the guys in charge of the CFP will do? If the Longhorns win out they have a shot since they beat Alabama but it might not happen.
