Romania battles Austria on Saturday in Group H play of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifying

Romania looks to take a step towards moving on to the next stage of qualifying when it takes on Austria on Saturday. Romania come into Saturday with one win and one loss in its first two matches. Mihai Popescu made it a two-goal lead right before halftime. Razvan Marin and Ianis Hagi both scored on penalties in the second half and Denis Alibec finished off the scoring in extra time. Romania is hoping it can get the same type of offensive output on Saturday against Austria. Romania will move on to the next stage with wins in its last two match. It will play Cyprus on Tuesday in its last match.
