San Marino is the only team in the group without a point thus far. Austria sits directly in front of its opponent with one win in the group stage. It has only played one game and has three points. In that one game, the team took down Romania, 2-1, and holds a one-goal differential with its three points in the group table.

Michael Gregoritsch and Marcel Sabitzer scored the two goals in the game in the 42nd and 60th minutes to put Austria up 2-0. Romania didn’t get its goal until the 95th minute. On the opposite side, San Marino lost last month to Cyprus, 2-0, and Romania, 5-1. Samuele Zannoni scored the team’s only goal of the month and brought a negative-six-goal differential into June.

After the beginning of June, it opened up with a loss to Bosnia and Herzegovina, 1-0, failing to register even a single goal and extending its negative differential to seven. There is still a plethora of qualfying soccer left to play, but Austria is looking to add to its point total while San Marino is just fighting to stay alive.
