Liam Everts leads the MX2 series into the FIM Motocross World Championship for the MX2 Europe Race 1.

The start of the MX2 season has a tight race at the top of the standings. Liam Everts (99 points) holds a slight lead over Kay de Wolf (97 points) and the rest of the field. Both have wins as well as a top two and top three finish through the first two events of the season. Now they head to France for the MX2 Europe with the first race in Saint Jean d’Angley. For the second straight Thibault Benistant leads the field from the pole and looks to get in the win column for the first time. He enters this race in sixth place in the points standings with a lot of ground to make up starting here in France.

Everts is off to the best start in a season after back-to-back fourth place finishes in the MX series. He won three races as a rookie and two in his sophomore campaign, but has hit the wall in fourth place in both seasons.

Last season’s champion de Wolf is right behind Everts in the points and will put the pressure on him as the one chasing the leader to start this season. In his championship run last season de Wolf was at the top from the beginning winning the first three races and only finishing outside the top five once.

That start is what every driver dreams of with Everts in a position to win two of the first three races sandwiched between a second place finish.
