The FIM Motocross World Championships heads to France for the MXGP Europe Race 1 in St. Jean d’Angely.

Tim Gajser leads the MXGP series into the third race of the season and on a track he is very familiar with in recent years. The Circuit de Pay de Poursay has been a home away from home for Gajser who has won the last three grand prix here. That creates an opportunity for him to build on his success on this track and in the standings this season. He enters the MXGP Europe with a 20 point lead over the field. Gajser is coming off a dominant win in the second race of the season winning off the pole in a clean sweep across the three races. Gajser is a five-time MXGP champion and is coming off a second place finish last season.

Just behind Gajser is local French rider Romain Febvre who looks to take advantage of the friendly home environment for his second win of the season. Febvre won the first race of the season in Argentina before finishing just outside of the top 10 in the last race.

Febvre won the MXGP back in 2015 and has finished as high as second place in 2021 and 2023. Lucas Coenen is on the pole for this his third race in the MXGP. His first two races saw the young driver finish sixth and ninth respectively.

Coenen has not won a race in this circuit, but was dominant in the MX series winning nine races last season. He finished the series in second place overall before moving from the MX series to the MXGP series this season.
