The 78th annual Montana East-West Shrine Game is a showcase for the best high school football players in the state.

In Montana the East-West Shrine Game is a three-quarters of a century old tradition in high school football. The West team won last year’s game 48-20 in Billings, Montana, to extend the best modern streak in this game. They have won four straight games to help inch closer and closer to evening up the series with the East team. The rosters are built of 82 total players between the two teams in the 78th edition of the Montana East-West Shrine Game. In this year’s game, 78 of the players are from Montana, with two coming from Canada. A total of 40 Montana schools are represented, with 11 of the players already signed up to play in-state for Montana State University and the University of Montana.

Heading into this year’s game, the East team holds a 41-36 overall edge over the West team in the Shrine Game. However, the West team is on the rise, winning four straight games to close the gap considerably.

This year, the West team is led by quarterbacks Merek Mihelish from Helena Capital and Brody Hardy from Frenchtown. They will try to extend the West team’s streak to five straight wins in the 2025 Montana East-West Shrine Game.

On the other side for the East team, Stockton Oxarart from Malta and Grant Vigen from Gallatin. Both teams are filled with the top players in the state, looking to get the season started off with momentum.
