The University of Utah is set to host the exciting mid-week matchup between Roy and Bountiful on Thursday in the UHSAA Class 5A Tournament championship game. The Royals entered the 5A competition with a bye week, being the No 1-seeded team in the division. Then, on Nov. 1, Roy went up against the No. 17-seeded Granger at home. The Royals were able to come away with a 45-28 victory to advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament. In the quarterfinals, the top-seeded Roy was set to take on the eight-seeded Viewmont on Nov. 8. More of the same from the Royals, as the team was able to come away with a 43-29 victory at their home stadium.

In the semifinals, Roy later met Timpview, who was the fourth-seeded team in the competition. The Royals were able to advance to the championship game, taking a 29-19 win at the University of Utah football stadium.

Meanwhile, Bountiful also had a bye in the first round of the UHSAA Class 5A Tournament as the two-seed.

In the second round, the RedHawks took a 42-14 finish over the No. 18-seeded Alta High School.

Bountiful then advance to the quarterfinals of the competition, where the team went up against the No. 7-seeded Maple Mountain. The RedHawks won by one touchdown to put themselves through to the final four at the University of Utah.

Finally, in the semifinals, Bountiful came away with a 24-8 finish over the No. 3-seed Brighton on Friday.
