Frankfort looks to complete its perfect season with a 14-0 record, when they meet against Bluefield in the state championship game Saturday.

No. 2 seed Bluefield will go for the upset in the WVSSAC Class AA State Championship game, when they battle against No. 1 seed Frankfort. The later is going to be tough to take down, since no one has done that against Frankfort this season. The Falcons are 13-0 on the season, and 2-0 in league play. Frankfort has breezed its way through the playoffs so far. The closest margin of victory came last week for the Falcons, beating Doddridge County in the semifinals 28-7. In these playoffs, Frankfort has outscored its opponents 127-29. Bluefield has been amazing also in the playoffs, out-scoring its opponents 155-41 in three games. The Beavers are coming off a 56-27 victory over Philip Barbour. Bluefield is going for its ninth win in a row, with a 11-2 record while going 5-2 in the league. The Beavers have largely rebounded from two loses in September, and are going to be an incredibly tough out in this state championship game.

Frankfort allowed just one touchdown in its last game in the second quarter against Doddridge County. After a scoreless first quarter, the Falcons found their rhythm scoring 14 in the second quarter. Frankfort was fueled by a strong ground attack which was led by senior QB Blake Jacobs. He rushed for 138 yards on 13 carries with a touchdown. The Falcons held Doddridge County to just 172 yards, but they will likely need to be more explosive on offense to keep up with Bluefield to stay perfect on the season.

That’s because the Beavers lowest point-total was 45 against Midland Trail in Week 2 of the playoffs. Bluefield’s 56 points last week was its highest total of the season. The Beavers are hitting their stride at exactly the right time.
