The Crew faced fellow Monterrey giant Tigres UANL in the tournament’s quarterfinals, with the two sides meeting to a 1-1 draw in the first leg at Lower.com Field. André-Pierre Gignac scored for Tigres, while Diego Rossi equalized for the club from Columbus. Furthermore, Aidan Morris received a red card, leaving the midfielder unavailable to face Tigres in the second leg of the quarterfinals. The two clubs met at Universitario Stadium in Monterrey for the second leg, with the match ending in another 1-1 finish. Gignac and Rossi were the goalscorers again, which preceded the Crew taking a 4-3 finish in penalty kicks to advance to the final four of the competition.
