Monaco hosts Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday looking to reduce the gap at the head of the Ligue 1 standings.

Paris Saint-Germain can increase its lead at the top of Ligue 1 on Wednesday provided it can bag its first league win at the Stade Louis II in almost five years, having gone wanting at the ground in recent years. Monaco has successfully held the reigning champion at bay in each of their last four league meetings at home to PSG, whose last victory at the venue came all the way back in January 2020. That being said, Adi Hutter’s men find themselves in a dismal patch of form as things stand, having won only one of their last five games across all competitions as they look to get things back on track.

It’s worth noting Monaco’s miserable run has largely come away from home, with the club still having given up just the solitary defeat when playing at home in Ligue 1 this term.

As fate would have it, however, PSG is yet to record a domestic defeat on the road so far this season, though the club has succumbed at Arsenal and Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

After losing points in each of its previous two league outings, PSG stamped some authority on the title race with a 3-1 win at home to would-be challenger Lyon on Sunday:

Les Parisiens moved back seven points clear at the table summit with that win, though Monaco can reduce that gap back down to just four with the right result on the French Riviera.

Luis Enrique has close to a clean bill of health for the midweek matchup, though Monaco is somewhat plagued by absences at present.

Jordan Teze will play no part on Wednesday given he’s suspended, while the likes of Folarin Balogun, Krepin Diatta and Denis Zakaria are among Hutter’s injured personnel at present.

Regional restrictions may apply.
